Some minor edgespotting, ednleaves toned. Near fine, in similar wrapper, darkened to spine. Now uncommon in jacket. First edition in book-form, having been serialised in The Westminster Gazette (Dec.1922-Feb.1923). One of Wells' two 'Earthly Paradise' fantasies in which a careful Liberal journalist, Mr Barnstaple, is hurled into another world altogether following a motor accident on the Maidenhead Road. Upon learning this is some scientific experiment he and the occupants of the other car involved (now 'the Earthlings'), are taken by aeroplanes to a briefing and it comes to pass that this apparent Utopia is not all it seems...
